The power of algae

A sustainable raw material

Algae is the most efficient natural carbon capture solution as well as a versatile ingredient that can be used to produce many everyday items more sustainably. Algae offers a sustainable alternative to carbon-intensive practices.

A wealth of potential applications

By absorbing carbon dioxide and sunlight, algae can be transformed into useful products. The uses for algae or its extracts include biofuels, plastics, chemicals, nutraceuticals, pigments, food and feed.

Freeing up land

As an agricultural product, algae is highly efficient. It requires minimal space compared to traditional agriculture, yielding far more biomass per hectare. It can be cultivated in various environments, freeing up valuable agricultural space for rewilding and biodiversity.

"There are two questions that I focus on every day. How do we get down to the cost of fossil fuels and how could we scale to billions of tonnes?"

Scaling Algae Production

In the past, algae couldn't be grown at the scale or cost required to make it a viable manufacturing option. To drive the adoption of algae-based alternatives for high-volume products like plastics, textiles and proteins, we need to reduce the cost of cultivation to about a dollar per kilo. Without this, algae-based solutions will remain economically unfeasible.

The Algenie technology can deliver unmatched productivity and cost-effectiveness, offering industries a clear path to achieving carbon positive products.
